My name is John Kenneth Mackenzie. I am the editor of this web site. The site is based on my parents’ papers, together with papers from other relations.
Phyllis Edith Mackenzie, born 3rd August 1911, died 10th May 1998, was my mother. Kenneth Edward Mackenzie, born 28th April 1910, died 24th April 1995, was my father.
The site is called ‘phyllismackenzie.co.uk’ because my mother’s papers are more voluminous than my father’s. Of particular importance and central to the site are my mother’s pictures.
I have no siblings, but there are many other relatives and friends who appear in this record. They will be identified as the record is compiled, and they emerge from the papers.
For the present the intended sections of the record are set out below. They may change, depending on the needs of the material.
My father trained as an engineer at University College, London. He was a highly intelligent and methodical man. His records reflect these characteristics.
My mother trained as an artist at the Slade School of Art, London . Her appearance, character and temperament were those of an artist. She kept every piece of paper that came her way, but without much identifiable organisation.
In presenting this record I will attempt to identify themes, but with no great persistence. I intend just to enjoy these two extraordinary lives and the galaxy of others who circulated around them, and around whom they circulated.
